In her debut novel, Emma Hamm brings us to a new world. The mining town of Silnarra is not an easy place to survive in. Convicts and the poor work alongside each other to gather gemstones sold to the rich and famous. Their lives are put on the line every day as they descend into tunnels that were built long before humans found them. Rumors of monsters lurking in the depths keep the miners wary of shadows. Disappearances frequently occur in the darkness.
Jane Penderghast has two younger siblings relying on her. She has to resort to desperate measures to keep them all alive. Women are not allowed to work in the mines but it is the only way to earn money in this cursed place. She will do anything to save her family, even lie and work in the belly of the earth.
In a moment of fear and confusion, she realizes that the rumors of goblins are true. These strange creatures that live far below her town bring her into their world. What she finds there is both astounding and heartbreaking. A goblin warrior, a dying race, and a chance at a life she never expected.
To become a Goblin Bride is no easy thing.
“In this story is the embodiment of a question that humanity has long since wondered. The perception of who is the hero and who is the villain blurs time after time again throughout this book. We are all raised thinking that our ways are the right ways and anything else is barbaric and wrong. This is the dilemma that Jane faces in the book.” – Kindle User
“Fantastic well thought out characters. Amazing story for a first time author. Harkens back to themes from Beauty and the Beast, and Tarzan. Truly a timeless story.” – Randy S. Silva
“Full of depth and beauty, this book is much more than it appears. A new world, a new race, and a naive love that grows dispite their differences.” – Lost in Words
The Goblin Bride was my first book. It launched me into the expansive world of Silnarra and all the creatures that inhabited it. I had originally intended this to be a series of three books, but realized rather quickly that this series wasn’t quite made for three. Two books in this series is as many as I am currently planning on writing, though there is room in the future for a return to the mining towns of Silnarra and the glowing goblin world.
It was an exiting, exhilarating, and terrifying experience to publish my first book. I thank each and every person who reads this series and begins this journey with me.
